The owners told us how they had transformed a dilapidated farm house with no garden into a beautiful building with a carefully designed garden that we explored with the aid of a map. Photographic Albums, of what was described as a retirement project, were available for us to look at while we had tea and delicious cake. The charge for the visit was split between the NGS charities and the German Shepherd Dog Rescue.
We return to Great Casterton Church Hall in October, for a talk by Michael Brown entitled ‘A Rose By Any Other Name’. Michael is known as the Historic Gardener and will tell us about the symbolism of the rose as well as the practical uses of medicine, food flavouring and cosmetics.
